In addition to the expansive educational and employment opportunities provided by The Ohio State University and 18 other local institutes of higher education, Columbus is also home to a multitude of companies in the banking, insurance, technology, healthcare, retail and food service industries. Even with a strong work ethic, residents of Columbus have not forgotten how to enjoy life! If you enjoy professional sports, Columbus is home to a National Hockey League franchise, the Columbus Blue Jackets; a Major League Soccer team, the Columbus Crew; a Minor League Baseball Team, the Columbus Clippers; the PGA Memorial Tournament at Jack Nicklaus’ Muirfield Village Golf Club; and the infamous Ohio State University athletic program. If something more natural peaks your interest, Columbus has 17 Metro Parks covering over 23,000 acres and 4 major water reservoirs – Alum Creek, Hoover Dam, Griggs Reservoir & O’Shaughnessy Dam. You can also take in a show at one of three performing arts theatres or see a traveling exhibit at the Columbus Museum of Art, Franklin Park Conservatory or the Center of Science and Industry (COSI). If shopping, dining or spirits are more your style, you can spend the day at the nationally renowned Easton Town Center or Polaris Fashion Place, or traverse the trendy and eclectic mix of shops and ale houses in the Short North, German Village, Brewery District or the revitalized Arena District.
