Grove City

Located on the southwestern edge of Franklin County, Grove City is a growing community of over 30,000 residents offering entertainment, recreation, and a variety of living options that make it one of the most unique cities in Central Ohio. Incorporated in 1852, Grove City is the gateway to the 15th largest metropolitan center in the United States thanks to its proximity to interstate I-70, I-71, and I-270. Today, this seventeen square mile community offers easy access to downtown Columbus and a ninety minute drive to the Queen City of Cincinnati.

Living within Grove City’s limits offers close to home options for every lifestyle option and interest. Currently, the city has an extensive and award-winning park system with more than 400 acres of parkland offering bike and hiking trails. Fryer Park, the city’s largest municipal park, offers year-round recreational opportunities including an all-access play zone with a space-age theme called Discovery Frontier. Grove City’s adventure park provides planetary play stations, including the Venus Sound Garden and the Mars Climbing Wall. The city’s Parks and Recreation Department also operates the Big Splash water park, an outdoor recreational area featuring interactive water play toys, a zero-depth entrance for easy accessibility, and a 190-foot water slide.

Seeking a history lesson? Century Village, the Southwest Franklin County Historical Society’s one-room school house and authentic log cabin, offers a walk through the American past. You can also enjoy a sidewalk lunch on the patio under the awnings of a building displaying architecture from the mid to late 19th and early 20th century.

Grove City is also home to Beulah Park, the first thoroughbred racetrack in Ohio. Founded in 1923, Beulah Park is only one of three thoroughbred race tracks in Ohio. Today, it is home to year round racing and supports some of the finest thoroughbred racing in the country.

Want to get out of town? Grove City’s location also offers residents convenient access to the best that Central Ohio has to offer. The Arena District, home to the NHL Columbus Blue Jackets and great dining and entertainment, is a short drive away. German Village, with its historic homes, trendy restaurants, and brick paved streets is also a short commute. Residents also have easy access to The Ohio State University, the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), the historical Ohio and Palace Theaters, the Columbus Museum of Art, as well as The Franklin Park Conservatory.

However, as in most communities the school district hosts the majority of the towns social activities,  both academic and athletic. Like most of the districts around Central Ohio, Grove City has experienced tremendous growth and is today Ohio’s sixth-largest district covering over 126-square miles and providing an education to nearly 21,000 students from kindergarten to twelfth grade. The South-Western City School District is proud to provide a diverse and caring learning environment supporting all content areas in order to meet each child’s individual learning and developmental need. This ensures every student is academically challenged and successful. Click here to view the latest Public School District Report Card for the South-Western City School District.
